- CWE-89
Impact
Authenticated attackers can execute arbitrary SQL commands to steal or modify database records. They only need low-privilege network access to perform ticket searches.
Root cause
The ContentSearch parameter is concatenated directly into SQL queries within Kernel::System::Ticket::TicketSearch and Kernel::System::Ticket::ArticleSearchIndex::DB without validation or parameterization.
Affected systems
Znuny through 7.3.6

Fix & remediation
Upgrade to a version newer than 7.3.6 (check advisory ZSA-2026-15 for the exact release). If patching cannot happen immediately, restrict authenticated access to the ticket search interface or block requests manipulating the ContentSearch parameter via a reverse proxy or WAF.

NVD description
Znuny through 7.3.6 constructs a ticket-search database query by directly concatenating user-supplied input into the SQL statement. This lack of proper sanitization or the use of parameterized queries allows an attacker to inject arbitrary SQL commands, leading to data theft, modification, or denial of service. Specifically this is in Kernel::System::Ticket::TicketSearch and Kernel::System::Ticket::ArticleSearchIndex::DB via the ContentSearch parameter. The parameter is expected to be either "AND" or "OR", but its value was concatenated directly into the generated SQL query without validation.
