Weakness
CWE-20

Impact

High-privileged attackers with adjacent network access can execute arbitrary code in the context of the ColdFusion service user, potentially escaping to the host system. They must already have high administrative privileges on an adjacent network to reach the vulnerable component.

Root cause

Improper input validation in an administrative ColdFusion component allows execution of arbitrary code.

Affected systems

Adobe ColdFusion (versions not listed in the advisory summary — check APSB26-144).

Fix & remediation

Apply the update referenced in Adobe advisory APSB26-144; if patching must wait, isolate the administrative network zone and revoke untrusted administrative accounts.

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

ColdFusion is affected by an Improper Input Validation vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. An attacker with high privileges could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code. The vulnerable component is restricted to an administrative network zone by default. Exploitation of this issue does not require user interaction. Scope is changed.
