CWE-78

Impact

Remote unauthenticated attackers can execute arbitrary commands as root on the router. They only need network access to the web management interface and can bypass authentication using a forged IP-FROM header.

Root cause

The sub_23B54 function in the ioos binary passes the unsanitized file_id parameter directly to popen() during type=del requests.

Affected systems

Wavlink WL-WN530BE1-A firmware through M30BE1_V251117

Fix & remediation

Check the vendor advisory for a firmware update newer than M30BE1_V251117; if unavailable or patching must wait, block or restrict access to the web interface from untrusted networks and the WAN.

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

Wavlink WL-WN530BE1-A firmware through M30BE1_V251117 contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the sub_23B54 function of the ioos binary, which passes the unsanitized file_id parameter of /protocol.csp?opt=ovpn_file requests with type=del to popen(). A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a forged IP-FROM: 127.0.0.1 header to bypass login and execute arbitrary commands as root.
