CWE-89

Impact

Authenticated privileged users can execute arbitrary SQL queries on the database, allowing them to read password hashes or local files like via pg_read_file. The attacker needs high-privilege access to the NocoBase instance with permissions to manage SQL collections.

Root cause

The sqlCollection:setFields action bypasses checkSQL() input validation, allowing malicious SQL queries to be stored and subsequently executed on reload.

Affected systems

NocoBase @nocobase/plugin-collection-sql through 2.2.28

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Fix & remediation

Fixed version is not listed in the advisory—check the vendor repository for releases after 2.2.28. In the interim, disable the @nocobase/plugin-collection-sql plugin or revoke access to SQL collection management from untrusted users.

shell
$ yarn pm check @nocobase/plugin-collection-sql

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

NocoBase @nocobase/plugin-collection-sql through 2.2.28 contains an SQL injection vulnerability that allows privileged users to store unvalidated SQL by bypassing checkSQL() through the sqlCollection:setFields action. Attackers holding the collection-sql snippet can replace a benign collection query with dangerous statements executed on reload, reading pg_shadow password hashes or calling pg_read_file.
