CWE-862

Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can read secrets, modify configurations, or delete all monitoring data remotely over the network. They only need access to the PocketBase API endpoints to steal server tokens, disable alerts, and alter status pages.

Root cause

Shipped PocketBase collection schemas left the API rules empty, granting public access to CRUD operations on sensitive records.

Affected systems

CheckCle through 1.6.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Fix & remediation

Upgrade to a version past 1.6.0 containing commit f2c338ced9162b7820b2495e298d5578df92bf75. If you cannot upgrade immediately, block public network access to the /api/collections/ endpoints or manually restrict the collection API rules inside the PocketBase admin dashboard.

NVD description

CheckCle through 1.6.0 contains a missing authorization vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to read, modify and delete records because shipped PocketBase collections use empty API rules. Attackers can query /api/collections/<name>/records endpoints to steal server_token values and alert_configurations secrets, disable alerting, alter status pages, or delete monitoring data.
