Impact

Attackers can crash GIMP or read adjacent heap memory by convincing a user to open a malicious XCF file. This requires local user interaction to load the crafted file.

Root cause

A heap out-of-bounds read occurs when GIMP parses malformed text-layer parasites inside an XCF image.
