CWE-89

Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can extract arbitrary data from the database over the network. They only need access to the extension's file search functionality.

Root cause

The file search builds SQL query conditions by manually wrapping search terms in quotes while only escaping LIKE wildcards instead of quote characters.

Fix & remediation

Upgrade the affected TYPO3 extension to the fixed release specified in advisory typo3-ext-sa-2026-034, or disable the extension's file search feature until patched.

NVD description

The file search of the extension builds its database conditions by wrapping the search term in quotes itself. Only the wildcard characters of the LIKE operator are escaped, quote characters are not. A crafted search term can therefore leave the intended string value and change the database query. This allows an attacker to read data from the database. The issue affects every searched field.
