Impact
Unauthenticated remote attackers can log in as the local administrator with an arbitrary password and gain SuperAdmin access. They need network access to the web login interface on instances where SAML SSO is enabled.
Root cause
An authentication bypass occurs in the login handler when SAML single sign-on is active, allowing arbitrary passwords for the local administrator account to succeed.
Affected systems
BMC Helix Network Management on-prem before 26.3.01
CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Fix & remediation
Upgrade to BMC Helix Network Management on-prem 26.3.01 or later. If patching immediately is not possible, restrict network access to the web interface or disable SAML SSO temporarily.
