- CWE-89
Impact
Remote unauthenticated callers can execute arbitrary SQL on connected Microsoft SQL databases with the workflow credential's permissions. To trigger it, an attacker needs network access to trigger a workflow that feeds untrusted input into the Query field.
Root cause
Version 1 of the Microsoft SQL node interpolates Query field expression values directly into raw SQL text without parameterization.
Affected systems
n8n before 2.41.4 and 2.42.x before 2.42.1

Fix & remediation
Upgrade n8n to version 2.41.4, 2.42.1, or later. If you cannot immediately upgrade, audit workflows to stop binding untrusted input (such as webhooks) directly to Microsoft SQL node version 1 Query fields.
$ npm install -g n8n@latestAI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?
NVD description
n8n before 2.41.4 and 2.42.x before 2.42.1 contains an SQL injection vulnerability in version 1 of the Microsoft SQL node, which substitutes Query field expression values directly into SQL text without parameterisation. When a workflow binds untrusted input such as webhook fields to the Query field, unauthenticated external callers can execute arbitrary SQL against the connected database with the stored credential's privileges.
