Impact
Remote attackers can execute arbitrary commands with Node.js process privileges. They only need to supply a crafted audioPath parameter to an application calling transcribeAudio().
Root cause
The transcribeAudio function passes the user-supplied audioPath directly into child_process.exec() without escaping or sanitization.
Affected systems
transcribe2texts through 1.0.6
CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Fix & remediation
No fixed release is listed; sanitize and validate audioPath values before passing them to transcribeAudio(), or stop using transcribe2texts until a patched version is available.
$ npm list transcribe2textsAI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?
NVD description
transcribe2texts through 1.0.6 contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows attackers to execute commands by supplying crafted audioPath values to transcribeAudio(). Attackers can inject $() or backtick substitution or a closing quote into the unescaped path passed to child_process.exec() to run commands with Node.js process privileges.
