CWE-862

Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can read draft and soft-deleted articles over the network. They only need access to the API to query article IDs directly or pass isDraft=true / isDel=true parameters.

Root cause

The /api/article and /api/article/{id} endpoints fail to enforce authorization checks before returning draft or deleted content.

Affected systems

ThriveX-Server through version 4.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

No fixed release is listed yet; block external access to GET /api/article and /api/article/* or strip the isDraft and isDel query parameters at your reverse proxy until a patch is available.

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

ThriveX-Server through 4.0 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in the GET /api/article and /api/article/{id} endpoints that allows unauthenticated attackers to read unpublished draft and soft-deleted articles. Attackers can request sequential article ids or supply isDraft=true or isDel=true query parameters to retrieve full titles, descriptions and content of non-public articles.
