CWE-352

Impact

Remote attackers can forge requests under an administrator's session—including creating new admin accounts—if they trick a logged-in administrator into clicking a malicious link. This requires social engineering via Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF).

Root cause

The plugin disables core WordPress nonce validation across the entire REST API for cookie-authenticated sessions.

Affected systems

Salon Booking System plugin before 10.31.9

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Fix & remediation

Upgrade the Salon Booking System plugin to version 10.31.9 or later. If upgrading immediately is not possible, deactivate the plugin until the patch can be deployed.

shell
$ wp plugin update salon-booking-system --version=10.31.9

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before 10.31.9 does not correctly verify the authenticity of REST API requests and discards WordPress core's nonce check for cookie-authenticated sessions across the whole REST API, allowing unauthenticated attackers who trick a logged-in administrator into clicking a crafted link to forge requests in that administrator's browser, up to creating a new administrator account.
