CWE-89

Impact

Authenticated low-privileged attackers can execute arbitrary SQL queries and extract sensitive database contents over the network. They only need valid low-privileged credentials to reach vulnerable endpoints.

Root cause

Endpoints fail to validate and sanitize user input before passing it into SQL queries.

Affected systems

Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.106.0 and 16.x versions before 16.16.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to 15.106.0, 16.16.0, or later. No interim workaround is documented, so restrict network access or untrusted user accounts until updated.

shell
$ bench update --apps erpnext

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

Frappe ERPNext before 15.106.0 and 16.x before 16.16.0 contains an SQL injection vulnerability in some endpoints due to missing input validation. Authenticated low-privileged attackers can send specially crafted requests to these endpoints to inject SQL and extract sensitive information from the database.
