CWE-862

Impact

Unauthenticated remote attackers can create records and enumerate availability on disabled features via exposed endpoints. They only need network access to the ERPNext instance.

Root cause

Specific ERPNext endpoints fail to perform authorization checks prior to creating records and exposing availability data.

Affected systems

Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.110.0 and 16.x versions before 16.21.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L

Fix & remediation

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to 15.110.0, 16.21.0, or later. If patching immediately is not possible, restrict network access to the ERPNext web interface using an upstream reverse proxy or firewall.

shell
$ bench update --apps erpnext

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

Frappe ERPNext before 15.110.0 and 16.x before 16.21.0 contains a missing authorization vulnerability in certain endpoints that fail to enforce authorization checks. Unauthenticated remote attackers can call these endpoints to create records and enumerate availability even when an administrator has disabled the corresponding feature.
