Impact

Authenticated attackers can execute arbitrary SQL queries to extract sensitive database contents. They only need low-privilege network access to an account on the ERPNext instance.

Root cause

Endpoints fail to validate user input before interpolating it into SQL queries.

Affected systems

Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.110.0 and 16.x versions before 16.21.0.

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to version 15.110.0, 16.21.0, or newer. If you cannot patch immediately, restrict access to authenticated users or place affected ERPNext endpoints behind a WAF with SQL injection filtering rules.

shell
$ bench update --apps erpnext

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

Frappe ERPNext before 15.110.0 and 16.x before 16.21.0 contains a SQL injection vulnerability in some endpoints caused by missing input validation. Authenticated attackers can send specially crafted requests to these endpoints to manipulate database queries and extract sensitive information from the database.
