CWE-89

Impact

Authenticated low-privilege users can extract sensitive database records over the network by sending crafted requests. Attackers only need basic user access to the ERPNext instance.

Root cause

Select endpoints fail to validate user input before passing it into database queries, resulting in SQL injection.

Affected systems

Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.119.1 and 16.x versions before 16.32.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to 15.119.1, 16.32.0, or newer. No interim mitigation is documented, so prioritize patching or restrict untrusted user access.

shell
$ bench update --apps erpnext

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

Frappe ERPNext before 15.119.1 and 16.x before 16.32.0 contains an SQL injection vulnerability in some endpoints that lack input validation, allowing crafted input to alter database queries. Authenticated attackers with low privileges can send specially crafted requests to these endpoints to extract sensitive information from the database.
