Impact

Authenticated attackers can view unauthorized party records. They need a valid user account with network access to the ERPNext instance.

Root cause

An API endpoint honors an attacker-supplied request flag that disables internal permission checks.

Affected systems

Frappe ERPNext versions before 15.120.0 and 16.x before 16.23.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to version 15.120.0, 16.23.0, or newer. No interim workaround is documented; apply the software update directly.

shell
$ bench update --apps erpnext

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

Frappe ERPNext before 15.120.0 and 16.x before 16.23.0 contains an authorization bypass in an endpoint that honours a caller-supplied flag disabling its own permission enforcement. Authenticated attackers can set this flag when calling the endpoint to skip permission checks and read party records beyond their permitted role.
