Impact
Authenticated attackers can run arbitrary shell commands on the backend host to access secrets and cross-tenant data. They only need standard network access and a self-registered user account.
Root cause
The Copilot standard mode execution tool directly runs commands on the host using Python's subprocess.run with shell=True without a sandbox.
Affected systems
JoySafeter through 1.0.0
CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Fix & remediation
Upgrade to a version newer than 1.0.0 if available. If patching must wait, disable user self-registration or restrict access to the WebSocket chat.start standard mode Copilot service.

NVD description
JoySafeter through 1.0.0 contains a remote code execution vulnerability that allows authenticated users to run operating system commands via an unsandboxed execute tool in Copilot standard mode. Attackers can self-register, select standard mode in the WebSocket chat.start extension, and have the agent invoke subprocess.run with shell=True on the host to access other tenants' data and server secrets.
