CWE-863

Impact

Authenticated portal users can read project timesheet data, including status, time-log dates, and modifier details. They only need low-privilege portal account access and read permission on the parent project.

Root cause

The get_timesheet_html method validates project read permissions but fails to check the hide_timesheets setting or project membership.

Affected systems

ERPNext 15.55.0 through 16.50.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade ERPNext past version 16.50.0 or apply commit eb217deef7bd407d34254aee3b3e175e4d357c90. If patching immediately is not possible, restrict portal user read access to projects.

shell
$ bench update --apps erpnext

NVD description

ERPNext 15.55.0 through 16.50.0 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability in the get_timesheet_html method that lets authenticated portal users view project Timesheets. The method only checks Project read access, ignoring hide_timesheets and project membership, so attackers can retrieve timesheet names, status, time-log dates and last modifiers.
