CWE-79

Impact

Attackers can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browsers of users visiting the Tools Oxidized page. They need control over a managed device's SNMP sysName or the Oxidized API response, plus a user to view that page.

Root cause

The get_oxidized_nodes_list() function outputs Oxidized API fields and SNMP sysName values directly into the page without HTML escaping.

Affected systems

LibreNMS versions before 26.9.0

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade LibreNMS to version 26.9.0 or later. If patching immediately is not possible, restrict access to the Tools Oxidized page or isolate untrusted SNMP devices.

shell
$ ./daily.sh

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

LibreNMS before 26.9.0 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in get_oxidized_nodes_list() that renders Oxidized API fields and SNMP sysName unescaped. Attackers controlling the Oxidized response or a device's SNMP sysName can inject script that executes in browsers of users viewing the Tools Oxidized page.
