Impact
Disabled users can continue making API requests using existing browser or remember-me sessions until they expire. An attacker needs previously valid credentials and an active session that was revoked or disabled by an administrator.
Root cause
The SessionAuthenticator class fails to verify the current account status against active sessions when authenticating API requests.
Affected systems
Grav API plugin (grav-plugin-api) versions prior to 1.0.36
CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N
Fix & remediation
Upgrade grav-plugin-api to version 1.0.36 or later. If upgrading immediately is not possible, disable the API plugin or invalidate all active user sessions manually at the session storage level.
$ bin/gpm install apiAI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?
NVD description
The Grav API plugin (grav-plugin-api) before 1.0.36 contains an improper session validation vulnerability that allows disabled accounts to keep API access, because SessionAuthenticator does not enforce account state. Disabled users can reuse an already authorized browser or remember-me session to call API endpoints until expiry, defeating operator revocation.
