Impact

Unauthenticated remote attackers can execute arbitrary JavaScript in the browsers of users or administrators visiting infected pages. Exploitation requires no credentials, but the target site must have at least one custom checkout field set to 'Html' or 'File' type.

Root cause

The plugin fails to sanitize and escape user-supplied checkout parameters before storing and rendering them in administrative and public views.

Affected systems

Salon Booking System plugin for WordPress through version 10.31.9

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade the Salon Booking System plugin to a version newer than 10.31.9. If an immediate update is not possible, remove or change any custom checkout fields configured as 'Html' or 'File' types.

shell
$ wp plugin update salon-booking-system

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

The Salon Booking System – Appointment Booking for Salons, Barbershops & Spas plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'sln[<checkout-field-key>]' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 10.31.9 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires that the site administrator has configured at least one custom checkout field of type Html or File, which is a standard documented plugin feature.
