Impact
Remote, unauthenticated attackers can cause a denial of service by crashing the SIP proxy. They only need network access to send crafted traffic processed by Kamailio's sipt module.
Root cause
A buffer overflow in the isup_get_calling_party function in ss7_parser.c caused by improper length handling.
Affected systems
Kamailio versions up to and including 6.0.7 and 6.1.3
CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L
Fix & remediation
Upgrade to Kamailio 6.0.8, 6.1.4, or later. If patching immediately is not possible, disable the sipt module in your Kamailio configuration if it is not required.
$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade kamailioAI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?
