Full C/I/A compromise
Weakness
CWE-862

Impact

Any low-privileged authenticated user can take over arbitrary accounts, including the built-in administrator, by resetting their passwords. An attacker only needs network access and valid credentials for any active user account.

Root cause

The PUT /api/users/resetPwd endpoint in UserController lacks method-level authorization checks and performs no role- or ownership validation.

Affected systems

ELADMIN through v2.7

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Fix & remediation

No official patched release is listed; block or drop HTTP PUT requests to /api/users/resetPwd at your reverse proxy or API gateway until source-level authorization checks are added to UserController.java.

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

ELADMIN v2.7 and earlier contains an improper access control vulnerability in the user-management endpoint PUT /api/users/resetPwd of me.zhengjie.modules.system.rest.UserController. The method lacks the method-level authorization check applied to all other user-management endpoints and performs no role-level or ownership validation in UserServiceImpl.resetPwd. Any authenticated user of any role can reset the password of arbitrary users, including the built-in administrator.
