Impact
Authenticated users can execute arbitrary SQL injection to compromise the backend database. They need valid credentials to store a malicious date format on a dataset field.
Root cause
The application inserts user-controlled dateFormat values into SQL date conversion templates without validation.
Affected systems
DataEase prior to 2.10.26
CVSS v4.0 · CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:X/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/MVI:X/MVA:X/MSC:X/MSI:X/MSA:X/S:X/AU:X/R:X/V:X/RE:X/U:X
Fix & remediation
Upgrade DataEase to version 2.10.26. No interim workaround is documented, so restrict dataset editing permissions or network access to the application until upgraded.

NVD description
DataEase is an open source data visualization and analysis tool. Prior to 2.10.26, authenticated users can store a crafted custom dateFormat for a dataset field. DatasetTableFieldDTO.dateFormat is inserted without validation into date conversion templates used by Dimension2SQLObj, CustomWhere2Str, Field2SQLObj, WhereTree2Str, and ExtWhere2Str. When a chart renders the field on a cross-datasource dataset, Calcite parsing is bypassed and the crafted format can directly alter the generated SQL. On a single-datasource dataset, exploitation additionally requires the payload to survive Calcite reserialization as a valid string literal. Successful exploitation can compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the backend database. This issue is fixed in version 2.10.26.
