CWE-862

Impact

Unauthenticated remote attackers can dump full customer PII (names, emails, phones, physical addresses, cancellation tokens) from the database. All they need is network access to the site to grab a public nonce exposed in frontend scripts.

Root cause

The plugin lacks server-side authorization checks on an internal endpoint and relies entirely on a public CSRF nonce emitted to any unauthenticated visitor.

Affected systems

Booking Package plugin for WordPress versions up to and including 1.7.29

CVSS v3.1 · CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N

Fix & remediation

Upgrade Booking Package to a version newer than 1.7.29 (such as 1.7.30 or latest). If patching immediately is not possible, deactivate the Booking Package plugin or restrict public access to the WordPress site.

shell
$ wp plugin update booking-package

AI-suggested. Run it in staging first and check it against the vendor advisory. Why?

NVD description

The Booking Package plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 1.7.29 This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to retrieve personally identifiable information for every booked customer stored in the booking_package_booked_customers table, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, and cancellation tokens. The nonce nominally protecting the endpoint is a public CSRF token emitted in the localized booking_package JavaScript object on any page rendering the [booking_package] shortcode or widget, making it trivially harvestable by unauthenticated visitors and providing no effective authentication barrier.
