A configured eBGP peer can crash the routing protocol daemon (rpd), causing a persistent denial of service. The attacker needs an established eBGP session to a target router that uses ephemeral configuration.
Root cause
A null pointer dereference occurs in rpd when processing a specific BGP packet on systems using ephemeral configuration.
